Jet Engine part 2

Decided to revisit the Rolls-Royce Nene jet engine. I think I'm done touching it. Built and rendered in Maya. Post in Photoshop.

Rolls-Royce Jet Engine

This is a mechanical study I've been working on of a Rolls-Royce Nene jet engine from the 1940s. This was a study to practice hard surface techniques for molded metal parts as well as layers of complexity in design.

Unearthly Challenge 2013 pt.3

Whipped this up over the weekend but forgot to post it. It's a little vignette to test out the street textures and blend maps. The 2 asphalt textures got a second pass to grunge them up a bit. Marmosets not a fan of alpha blending so hopefully the decals will look better in UDK.

Unearthly Challenge 2013 pt.2

Unearthly Challenge 2013

So I'e entered the Unearthly Challenge some friends, Tim Diaz and Liz Kirby. The challenge is to pick a theme and build an environment around it. The theme we chose is "gravity"... or "anti-gravity"... or "floaty buildings". The thread where you can find our concept and additional art can be found here:

Pop in. Take a look. Kick off your shoes and stay awhile. Here's some work I've done so far.

Weekly Study- GL-06 pt.2

Here is the finished product. It was kinda fun to add personality to such a sterile gun. The gun uses 1024  diffuse/normal/specular/gloss maps and the attachments use 512 respectively. It was rendered in Marmoset.

Weekly Study - GL-06 Grenade Launcher

This week was about accuracy. This is a GL-06 grenade launcher with various attachments. There was a lot of shortcuts I could have taken to cut down the modeling time, but accuracy was the goal above all else. About 8 hours on the gun and another 3 hours on accessories. If I take this to low-poly I'll probably beat it up in zbrush a little.

Weekly Study - Painting technique

This week was a speed painting. This painting was more about technique and lighting than subject matter. I wanted to practice a more fluid, painterly style. It was supposed to be a speed painting, but then I got into it and ended up at about 5 hours. Oh well.

Title_Here!

Here is a sculpt of a Satyr character as well as some quick costume variants from a side project that seems promising. The art styles a lot of fun to work in.

I Think its done

Critique would be awesome. I went with a looser style than I'm used too. I think it was successful but outside input is always good.

Ogre Update

Here is a near complete Ogre. I'd love some crit. to push it farther. 15500 Tris and 2048 maps.

Ogre WIP

So I got tired of staring at Neil Patrick Harris' face for 3 days straight and decided to do a warm up for Dominance Wars V. Hence, the bad ass ogre. The first shot has a paint over of tattoos I'm planing to flush out the design. The feet are a separate subtool so I'll paint out the seem in Photoshop after I bake the normals. As always comments and critiques are the whole reason I post these.
